1. Original, Current and Supplementary Baselines.
The original baseline is typically set after the project plan is approved and before it starts, as the project progresses and changes, create new baselines for use in evaluating project performance. On the baselines page, the original baseline has been created. Add another baseline, and set it as the current baseline. This is beneficial after reaching a major milestone or a significant change in scope. Use the third type, supplementary, for any purpose.

2. Unlimited number of Baseline.
Create an unlimited number of additional baselines by leaving the type unassigned. These are considered unofficial baselines. Change them to official baselines later, or select them as user baselines. Capture data from the past by selecting a date all the way back to the project creation.

3. User baselines.
Use the dropdown in the type column to change baselines type. In addition to project baselines, select up to three user baselines. Set your user baseline preferences on the activities page. Select any of the project baselines to serve as your user baselines.
As with the original baseline, Add data from the current supplementary and user baselines to the activities page and compare it to the current schedule. Use columns to view the dates, durations, and costs included in the baselines.

4. Variance fields.
Variance fields calculate the difference between a current and baseline value. Add bars to represent any of the baseline schedules on the Gantt chart. This view is set to analyze the recently captured current baseline. Here, we see an activity that is scheduled to finish on time, compared to the current baseline. Switching views, let's analyze user baseline one. The activity had been scheduled to finish earlier and is behind schedule compared to this older baseline.
