1. Schedule Comparison.
Use Schedule Comparison to compare two project schedules and identify the differences. This feature is helpful to see how a schedule has changed compared to the original plan, or to check changes to a contractor's schedule since its last update.
To start, select a project. Navigate to the Schedule Comparison page. Select two versions of the schedule to compare. You can select the current schedule, the schedule at a specific date in time, or a saved scenario or baseline. In this example, we will view changes to the schedule as compared to the initial project plan.
2. Compare Original and Revised source Schedules.
Select a baseline as the original source. Select the current schedule as the revised source. And then click Compare. A Schedule Variance Analysis panel similar to the Schedule Health Check panel summarizes the results of the comparison. It displays new, deleted, and changed data between the two schedules.
Select an area to view specific changes. In this example, the At Completion Duration has changed for some activities. The variances between the activities are displayed. Click the activity link to view additional changes and information in the Details window.
3. Schedule Comparison Analysis.
To focus on specific areas of change, use settings to configure what data is monitored in the Schedule Comparison Analysis. Or select which fields to view in the table for comparison. For example, add the Total Float column to the table. When viewing changes in the table for a specific field, the original and revised values are displayed as well as a variance or difference between those two values.
Use the Gantt Chart view to view differences graphically, in this example, between the scheduled start and finish dates of each activity.
