LESSON 3-6: Using Trace Logic 

This lesson describes:

1. Trace logic detail window
Use the trace logic detail window on the activities page to step forward or backward through a series of activities to determine their effect on the overall schedule. Select an activity on the grid, the Gantt Chart, or the Activity network.

The activity displays with a green background in the trace logic detail window. Critical activities display in red. Critical and milestone activities display an icon. All activities display name, ID, and start and finish dates.


2. Trace Logic views level
By default, the Trace Logic view displays three predecessor and successor levels. But these levels can be increased up to 2,000 levels. Click the magnifier controls to zoom in or zoom out. Click the zoom to fit magnifier to view the whole sequence of selected activities.

3. Relationships
When you are zoomed out, hover your mouse over an activity tile to view its at full size. Relationships between two critical activities are displayed as a solid red line. Driving relationships are displayed as a solid black line.
And non-driving relationships are displayed as a dotted black line. Relationships between two completed activities are displayed as a solid green line. Click on a relationship line to view information about the relationship.
