OPC Portfolio & Capital Planning: Module 1 Create the Prtfolio

This lesson describes how to:
• Achieve strategic objectives using Portfolios
• Create a Portfolio
• Use the filter criteria
• Add and remove projects from a Portfolio

1. Achieve strategic objectives.
Projects are grouped into portfolios to achieve an organization’s strategic objectives, which are measured, ranked and prioritized. Build a portfolio with individual projects or with programs and other portfolios.

2. Create a Portfolio.
Let's take a look at how to create a portfolio using a basic filter criteria. The Portfolio Page contains an inventory of portfolios in the Workspace. Use Add to create a new Portfolio.

3. Filter Criteria.
Populate the portfolio with projects based on filter criteria such as dates, status, project codes and user-defined fields.
View the list of projects based on the filter criteria to ensure you have the latest set of projects. Refresh the portfolio manually or specify how often to refresh the portfolio automatically.

4. Adding and removing projects.
Projects may be added and removed if they no longer meet the filter criteria. In addition to adding projects, other portfolios and programs can be added to monitor performance or as a part of the budget planning process.
