Results orientation (People 10) describes the ways an individual can stimulate and steer his team to realise optimal results. The Results orientation (People 10) competence element enable the individual to focus on the agreed outcomes and drive towards making the project/programme/portfolio a success.

This competence element connects together all previous elements in this category: 1. Self-reflection and self-management. 2. Personal integrity and reliability. 3. Personal communication. 4. Relationships and engagement. 5. Leadership. 6. Teamwork. 7. Conflict and crises. 8. Resourcefulness. 9. Negotiation. Everything that people do on a project has to contribute to the required end result. The central question is twofold: Are we still working to deliver the required result, or will it ensure that we make the process smarter, quicker and more economical? Result orientation is about making a conscious choice to deliver the required result. Someone is result oriented when he and other people focus on that one goal. Whatever happens, we want to achieve that result, and our fundamental attitude is that we do not accept anything less. This is not only reserved for managers, as in a project, we want to create a culture in which everyone is conscious of the importance of achieving the result together, as a team. The project/programme manager continuously indicates the direction in which a project/programme is heading. Result orientation then becomes aligning everyone involved with the projects to the required project results. This means everyone is always conscious of what we want to achieve, and the project/programme manager must ensure that this remains the case. We keep prioritizing all work and all decisions by using the objectives as the start and end points, whereby we also want to ensure that the results of a project contribute optimally to the various interests that exist. Result orientation focuses, therefore, on a result that is as favorable as possible for everybody. When it is possible to do something smarter, quicker or more economical, without endangering the end results, then we remain open to that. Additionally, it also covers the preparedness to take action when we encounter setbacks. As we are so focused on the end result, this addition is especially important, because really we do not want to know about adverse events. When this translates into an attitude, whereby no-one dares to give a warning, we get to hear too late about something that threatens to go wrong. You must always remain open to signals related to the delivery of a project result. As soon as this is necessary, you weigh up a risk and intervene when required. You must never be afraid to accept the hard facts and act accordingly. This competence, which places a strong emphasis on your qualities of persistence and perseverance,
